MathSetuMany students ask when the SOF International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) will be held this year. This post lists what SOF has published and what is only reported. It was checked on 18 October 2026.
Level 1 dates (listed by SOF)
The SOF page for IMO exam dates lists three possible dates for the 2026-27 exam:
- Date one: 23 October 2026
- Date two: 26 November 2026
- Date three: 10 December 2026
Your school chooses one of these dates for all its students, so students do not pick a date themselves. Ask your Olympiad coordinator or class teacher which date your school has chosen. If your school chose 23 October, the exam is only a few days away.
Level 2 date (not confirmed)
The Level 2 date has not been announced on the SOF page we checked. Education websites report that Level 2 is expected in February 2027, probably on a Sunday, with the exact date to follow around December 2026. Treat this as a rough guide only. One website even gives January 2027, so the sources do not agree.
Level 2 is for students who qualify from Level 1. Please check the qualifying rules on the official SOF website.
What we could not confirm
- Registration deadlines and the fee. Your school handles registration, so ask your coordinator.
- Which classes take the exam each year. Education websites say Level 1 is open to Classes 1 to 12, but please check the official notice.
- The exact Level 2 date.
How to use the days you have
- Read how the exam works on our Olympiad page, and keep your school chapters strong, because many questions use school ideas in new ways.
- Practise with a fresh test every day. The practice generator makes a new test each time, with an instant score.
- Revise the basics with the chapter tests, and write down every mistake and the idea behind it.
- Read the 30-day plan for Class 10 Maths for a way to organise your revision.
This post is based on the SOF page and on news reports, and it is not an official notice. Dates can change, so please confirm them with your school and on the official SOF website before you plan around them.
